“I wish to thank everyone at the Home Care Assistance company for the excellent care provided to our family, in our time of need. Scott Michaels, owner of this great company, you really went above and beyond to help me care for my wife, whose Alzheimers disease, was progressing and exhausting our family, both physically and emotionally.
Your thoughtfulness at holiday and birthday times, remembering us with flowers and beautiful cards, was truly appreciated. You and your dedicated staff were attentive, patient and very understanding in trying to meet our needs and honoring our requests. Your healthcare company shows how much your patients and their families well being really matters, which is sadly lacking in many home care companies today.
Your care givers got us through some very difficult times. I can’t tell you how much it helped me to be able to rely on the kind, compassionate and skilled women, who came to help care for Lou. Every caregiver who came to our home showed g reat compassion and integrity and truly exhibited their sincere feelings for Lou, and her fight with this terrible disease.
I highly recommend Home Care Assistance company to anyone who is looking for help at home with their loved ones. Thanks again, Scott and your wonderful staff. From the bottom of my heart, we really appreciate your great work!!!” — R.B.

“Home Care Assistance provided exceptional overnight in-home care for my wife during her final week. The administration was top notch. They were very clear about their services as well as requirements and were very responsive to our needs. The caregivers were always on time, very skilled, knowledgeable, and provided services in a loving and caring manner.” — Jack
“Thank you to all of the caregivers at Home Care Assistance. They helped Mom with her memory games over the years and kept her mind stay active right to her passing to her next adventure. Mom enjoyed nature, so the tree planting was a very nice gesture. I appreciated the aides caring view towards Mom. They were all very kind to her.” — L.N.
“I have been very pleased with the service you have provided…and would not hesitate to recommend your company to anyone I feel is in need of your services.” — Bank Trust Officer

“Home Care Assistance of Solon is an exceptional home care agency! Scott Michaels went above and beyond normal home care services by helping us provide an educational session for our caregivers to address a very special need in caring for our mom. Scott helped us by contacting an excellent nurse who can provide this educational service. We are very grateful and appreciative of Scott’s outstanding care and service for our mom! Also, love working with Stevie who is so responsive and amazing in coordinating our caregivers! Furthermore, our caregivers are very experienced and provide high quality care for our mom! Home Care Assistance of Solon is an extraordinary company that we appreciate very much!” — Shelly
“We hired Scott and Stevie firm to care and assist mom, whom suffered with advance dementia.
Scott was very hands on, he even took a shift to care for mom when an aide was not available. They have very friendly aides that talk to the people, at them and not down to them. Stevie made house calls to check on the status and upgrade the health plan as need or required. Hattie and Brenda two of the staff members were very helpful to mom, and even went out of their way to prepare delicious and healthy meals. Scott even remained at the hospital to discuss how his staff would very willing to work with the Hospice agency if the decision was made to bring mom home when she was diagnosed as terminal ill. They work with the financial and medical power of attorney extremely well. This agency is so loyal to the family and mom to the point of visit mom in hospice, the hospital , and rehab unit periodically. I would rate them extremely high on the scale as to loyalty. They put care of the patient first and foremost. They are there to address questions and concerns. I would highly recommend their staff and Scott & Stevie , five star rating.” — Joe Udovic, Euclid OH
“My husband sustained a compression fracture of the spine which resulted in hospitalization and two rehab facilities. It was a difficult time, needless to say, both physically and emotionally. As time progressed, I knew he would not get really well until I brought him home. Once I was connected with Home Care Assistance of Solon, I received competent and caring help from the office staff, and arrangements were made to get him home. In home caregivers have been wonderful in every way, showing skill, emotional support and genuine concern for all aspects of our daily living. Our regular caregiver feels like family to us now, and Jim is showing great improvement. The staff continues to give us regular support, also, ensuring that we are continually satisfied.”
— Alice Brightup — former Geriatric Social Worker
“I was referred to Home Care Assistance as I was preparing to help my mother address some very challenging aging issues. Scott Michaels was patient, deliberate, and adopted a personal, hands-on approach to supporting her. After his visit to her residence and engaging with her, Scott was able to make many sound recommendations and suggested strategies that I am executing on an ongoing basis. I appreciated his professionalism, expertise, and responsiveness. I later learned that my mother was quite comforted by his visit, which was a pleasure to know. My mom is well on her way to a better life!”
— Dr. A.B. Maddox, University of Southern California
“My wife Carol had a hard two-year struggle with incurable cancer, declining steadily until life was hardly more than a pin-hole. The last year I arranged for a caretaker for weekdays, and had help from my daughters, but in the final month they needed help as well and I was no longer able to handle weekends and nights. We contacted Home Care Assistance, who provided round-the-clock attendants. I cannot really find the words to say how wonderful they were: highly competent, comforting and caring, endlessly patient and reassuring. They became family friends. Carol passed away — thankfully, in peace — clutching in her hand a little soft animal that one of the attendants had given her. It was symbolic of the relationship that had developed. I cannot praise and thank them enough.”
— Dr. Noam Chomsky, Professor Emeritus, MIT
“I work frequently with older adults. Many need help with activities of daily living, especially meal preparation, so I am excited to learn about the Balanced Care Method™ for caregivers. The information in the training manual about a healthy diet reflects the latest research, and the fact that it is based on the habits of the long-lived elders of Okinawa is very inspiring.”
— Laurie Steinberg, Registered Dietitian at Stanford School of Medicine
“Home Care Assistance raises exactly the right banner in promoting The Balanced Care Method as the foundation for all good care. In the rush of medical care systems that focus almost exclusively on problems, The Balanced Care Method encourages an approach which emphasizes creating strengths. For centuries we have known that better health in aging is tied to physical, emotional, social, and spiritual factors. Regardless of diseases, building on these basics of good health matters.
But beyond creating strengths for elders, families that emphasize Balanced Care will come to work together and understand more clearly how to cope with medical problems and illnesses. The secret is in the strength of the foundation of care. The rest then comes into clearer perspective; complex situations and decision-making during this time of life are better understood and engaged. Home Care Assistance is about foundation-building for elders, families, supportive friends and, ultimately, for your health care team.”

“It’s never easy to realize that your family needs more help than the family can provide on its own, and the decision to reach for outside support can be difficult. In 2006, my mom was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. My parents live in a house on their own and for the past five years, I watched my mom’s mobility and level of independence steadily decrease, and my dad’s levels of stress and responsibility significantly increase. My sister and I looked into several home care organizations and ultimately, decided upon Home Care Assistance. We were impressed with their balanced approach to care, and their thorough and genuine efforts to get to know my mom and find a caregiver best suited for her needs. Home Care Assistance has been a huge source of support for both my parents. With the help of her caregiver, my mom can participate in the activities she loves without needing to depend on my dad to accompany her. My dad can now enjoy some relaxing time on his own. In many ways, Home Care Assistance has given my parents a part of their life back. It has been such a relief knowing that they are in such safe and professional hands.”
— Sessional Instructor, Dept. of Counseling Psychology, UBC
“Your caregivers are caring and compassionate individuals. Our residents know that when you send a caregiver to one of our facilities, we will receive nothing but the best service. Thank you again for your outstanding commitment to the elder community”
— D.V., COO of Alocuer Gardens
“I have worked for most of the non-medical companies in the Milwaukee area. But I will now only work for Home Care Assistance. Your care management and communication is outstanding. It allows me to be a more effective caregiver.”
— Caregiver, NH
“Sue and I would really like to thank Home Care Assistance for helping us make a very stressful time in our life, less stressful. We didn’t give you much notice and yet you rose to the occasion to help us out. Your case manager did a wonderful job of assessing the situation and also of being an excellent liaison for us and the caregiver. And the caregiver of course was an excellent choice for my dad. He felt very comfortable with her as did we and I don’t believe there could have been a better choice. So thanks again, we will certainly be in touch and would highly recommend you.”
— Robert Kuhl
“I was looking for part-time help for my mom but after she had a fall, I realized I needed full time help immediately. Finding Carla, an employee with Home Care Assistance, was the answer to my prayers! She made it possible for my mother to stay at her own home where she feels safest. Carla is a good fit personality-wise with my mother. She is not overly talkative and has an easy going personality. She is honest with me and my sister about what events have taken place during the day and night. She makes excellent notes. She is knowledgeable about medicines. Please keep Carla as my mother’s caregiver!”
— Sally DeMetz, Birmingham, AL
“Having your service has put a smile back on my mother’s face. We were overwhelmed and stressed out. I could not be gone for any length of time. I am now more relaxed. I am now able to volunteer at my children’s school. We are also able to spend more family time together without worry. Kathy is really a great person all around. She makes mother and daddy happier and she is very serious about her job. I don’t know what I would do without her. The whole experience has been great!”
— Lisa Payne, Springville, AL
“I am the sole caregiver for my mother and needed a two day break. Kelly was sent to us and she was terrific while here in our home. She was thoughtful, gentle, very kind, excellent with mom’s needs — lunch and diabetic meds. I felt safe with her here with Mom. Thank You!”
— Carmela Holt Birmingham, AL
“Thanks for your ongoing support. You and your staff have increased the quality of life for me and my mother. . From the transition from the nursing home to a higher quality of life at home. Everyone has been great and knowledgeable about providing care for elderly people, especially those with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. My mother is thrilled to be home.”
— Charles G. Cawley and Virginia Cawley
“I would like to express my appreciation for the care and service rendered by HOME CARE ASSISTANCE, and more specifically, to both you and your caregiver. Your professionalism, sincerity, and empathy were genuine and allowed us to accept and welcome your help.
I am sure that you know that HOME CARE ASSISTANCE is lucky to have this particular caregiver in staff. Her quiet, caring demeanor and self confidence served to create an immediate bond between her and my mother (and my father too). I knew within the first few hours of her stay that we were incredibly lucky to have found her. She knew exactly how to meet my mother’s needs—especially in those last days of my mother’s terminal illness when her physical and emotional needs were greatest. It made me feel good to see my mother embrace this caregiver both literally and figuratively, and when I could not be there, I had peace of mind knowing that this woman was in charge and that there was true affection between them.
Although your caregiver was with us for less than two months, she became a trusted and valued member of our family. We could not have made it through without her, and she will always be considered a friend. Treat her well. She is a gem.”
“I want to thank you and your organization for the outstanding job that you did caring for my uncle these last couple months — the care enabled my uncle to spend his last months in his home and with his friends from the men’s club — my brother and I really appreciate the effort that you made — I think it made a big difference in the quality of my uncle’s life.”
— Gregory J. Burkus

They have built and managed relationships with our family members taking much of the pressure and worry off our shoulders so we can focus on our children. I know my parents are in excellent hands and continue to receive first-rate skilled care. Thank you, Home Care Assistance.”
— L.R., Randolph
“My experience with Home Care Assistance of Southern New Jersey was even better than I could have hoped for in a very difficult time. I found them to be very proactive — when our regular aide was not available they were always on top of things in providing a resolution quickly. I also found them to be always available to take my call, very compassionate and concerned and overall I would highly recommend them to anyone if you are thinking of having home care as part of your plan in providing care for a loved one.”
— Donna O., Marlton, NJ
“I’d also like to extend a thank you for the excellent care my mom has been receiving. She always has such good things to say about her caregivers and she is happy with the current schedule. — Fran Residence, Westfield, NJ

“I want to thank you and your organization for the outstanding job that you did caring for my mom these last couple months — the care enabled my mom to spend her last months in her home and with her family — my sister and I really appreciate the effort that you made — I think it made a big difference in the quality of my mom’s life. I am so thankful you are there to take care of my father now.”
— Cary, Boonton, NJ
“I just wanted to again express my sincere thanks for your services for my dad. Jeannie is amazing and Kaleb was more helpful than the entire hospice staff combined! Plus, the professionalism of your organization was very refreshing. On behalf of my whole family, I want to thank you for providing such exceptional compassionate care to my father. It means a lot.”
— Beth H., Albuquerque, NM
“These individuals worked in twelve-hour shifts, 8:00 to 8:00 and, with the support of Hospice and our doctor, enabled me to keep my husband home with me safe and pain free. When he was walking or showering I would not have been strong enough to make certain that he did not fall. I was so pleased with the professional manner in which all of these individuals worked. Their only job here was to care for my husband and they were very excellent in doing that.
On the last day of life the dedication of the Nurse Assistant made a tremendous difference in our lives. She had been sitting in with my husband as we ate dinner. Suddenly she reported for the first time he had displayed an interruption in his breathing. We were able to be by his side as, in the next minute, he took his last breath.
This was, of course, a very difficult time for me and my family, but with this help we were able to do as much as possible to ease the final days of my husband’s life.”
“Without the commitment and expertise of Home Care Assistance’s remarkable caregivers, my mother’s last months with us would have been a horrendous ordeal. From cooking and cleaning to companionship, your caregivers melded with our family in a way that was not intrusive, yet highly effective and always at the ready to handle the various emergencies and non-routine occurrences that seemed to spring up more often than not. Ms Q was a particular stand-out. Her commitment and caring for the welfare of my parents was without equal and the major reason my father requested Home Care Assistance continue to provide services for him.
We very much appreciate the continued support for my father and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend your company and its caregivers to anyone.”
“My sons told me that they wanted me in assisted living unless I found some help and companionship. I didn’t like it at first, but now I admit they were right. Home Care Assistance has allowed me to eat better meals and exercise! Until I had a caregiver, I felt confined to my home, and overwhelmed by it. Now my house is clean and I’m enjoying walking to the park and spending time at the library. My sons feel so much better that I’m taken care of when they can’t be here.”
— G.S., Upper Arlington
“I must thank you for the caring people you sent to care for my father, especially Diana. Your idea of live-in caregiver’s was absolutely the right way to go. The last few months of my father’s life were serene and comfortable.”
— Julie H., Texas
“I got to a point where I was hesitant about driving and running errands by myself. Now, thanks to my caregiver Kathleen driving me, I don’t put off getting the things I need and I actually enjoy the companionship and getting out.”
— Dorothy S., Texas
“We just wanted to say Thank You for all of your (and your behind-the-scenes team) efforts toward our Mom. Your persistence to find just the right skilled caregivers to listen, lead, and use ‘creative’ thinking to provide quality and safe care made her end of life comfortable and happy. Thank you for caring, and for responding with integrity to our families varied requests. We are most grateful.”
— The Family of AG, Milwaukee County
“After my Mom fell, bringing her home was really hard especially because she is blind and in a wheelchair. Your caregiver was so kind and really had a calming effect on my Mom. She took care of her with such dignity and patience. I am so appreciative for your caregiver. Thank you!”
— L. F., Ozaukee County
“I just spoke with his resident advisor and he just raved about how well he has integrated into his dorm and life on campus. The RA said that he has made tons of friends, and “just knows everything that is happening on campus.” Physically and emotionally, he is the strongest he’s ever been. The doctor he saw on Saturday also agreed how well he is doing. Yesterday, he walked from the parking lot to his dorm room without his walker. His power chair skills have improved tremendously. His caregiver said that he can safely drive to the cafeteria without any assistance. Personally, I’ve seen him become much more responsible for himself. This leap has led to much emotional growth. I think your caregivers are doing a terrific job of providing support, without hovering. Thanks for all of your help.”
— Judith M.
“The 24-hour care that Home Care Assistance provided for our mom was unparalleled. She had three caregivers, each as compassionate, dedicated and hardworking as the next. Each caregiver worked eight hour shifts, which enabled them to stay focused and well rested, and in turn, provide the best care possible.”
— Susie M.
“My wife’s mom, in addition to my wife and I, have been very impressed with the sincere interest that Home Care Assistance has for their clients. The caregivers who have been assigned to my wife’s mom are wonderful. All of our rescheduling needs have been seamless. My wife’s mom is thrilled each time Carolyn comes for a visit, often on weekends.”
— Dr. Jim Brosnan
“I would like to thank you and the caregivers at Home Care Assistance for the care and compassion you provided to my father. My Dad had several medical complications which restricted his mobility and impaired his health. The assistants proved by Home Care Assistance were professional, knowledgeable and caring. Just as important, they were kind and compassionate human beings that significantly helped his mental outlook and provided friendship and companionship during a difficult period. My Dad genuinely enjoyed the friendship and trust that he developed with his caregivers. I also appreciate your administrative ability to coordinate with our long term care insurance company. I would not hesitate to recommend your service to others.”
— Sean Downs, CEO, Enclarity Inc.
“My sincere thanks to you and your staff at Home Care Assistance for coming to my 11th hour rescue back in May. Your Caregiver helped me shower daily, made my bed, prepared meals and did some food shopping, light cleaning and the laundry. She was a gem, always on time, and her manner and demeanor exhibited her many years of experience as an expert Caregiver. She was dependable, calm, caring and trust worthy. I also enjoyed her lovely sense of humor. I also salute you for your flexibility in making the effort to accommodate a prospective client at the “last minute,” as well as your reasonable cost for the excellent care received.”
— Patricia L. Waller, Retired U.S. Diplomat
“My mother who is 80 was invited to spend Christmas with my brother in San Diego. Getting there and back required changing planes in Houston and on the way back she only had 30 minutes to transfer to a different terminal. I had discussed in passing, my concern with Lori at Home Care Assistance here in Columbus and she, on her own, spoke with the Home Care Assistance Office in Houston. They offered to help my mom get to a hotel if she missed her flight. When she arrived safely and on time back in Columbus mom told me that someone from the Houston Office had actually come out to the airport and was able to meet her at the gate with a wheelchair and get her over to her flight to Columbus. This type of help is to me 5 Star service. I was simply amazed that they would help so much.”
— Bill Fullerton
“I just wanted to take a minute and reiterate how pleased we are with the care mom has been receiving. It’s obvious that your caregivers care about mom and it’s more than just a job to them. As you know mom resisted having the caregivers in her home initially but we have seen a definite shift in her in the months since the caregiver service began. She now welcomes them and greets them warmly when they arrive.
I’m sure contributing to that result is the fact that they have always treated her with care and respect for which the family is grateful. They have been patient and kind with mom. I know they worry about her even when their formal shift is over. Every time I visit, the house is also neat and tidy which is so important to mom. We also appreciate the flexibility of Home Care Assistance as we have had to adjust to mom’s changing needs since inception of the service. Whenever we’ve called with any issue, you’ve been very responsive. I’ve had the occasion to speak to your staff a number of times on the weekends and she is always available and quick to respond, even going to mom’s house herself if the need presented itself. As mom’s memory continues to fade I feel like we may be entering a new phase of care for mom and I appreciate you working with us to evaluate her needs and respond accordingly. Thank you so much."
— Anne D.
“I could not have been more pleased with your company’s services, and most of all, the assigned caregiver. The pre-visit to my home was very reassuring that I was dealing with a company of integrity. My caregiver never stopped trying to find things to do for me. The cost was well worth the service. I would not hesitate to recommend your service in the future.”
— Jeanne Olson
“I wanted to write you to thank you so much for your valued employee, Vicky. She has helped our family and especially my father-in-law (Pop) so very much. We adore her warm and loving personality and attention to detail. When there was an emergency yesterday with Pop, she did not hesitate to take action. She did in fact save his life as he had lost over four pints of blood. His surgery this morning was a success and I had to let you know how grateful I am that Vicky was there to help us. You are truly blessed to have such talent working for you. Take care and have a wonderful day.”
— Tonya M.
“I just wanted to take a moment and tell you and your staff, thank you very much. It has been a pleasure meeting and working with both Sharon and Linda. Both these ladies were so kind and accommodating to our weekend schedule so that we could get home care started immediately, this is a great feeling of relief for all of us. Their time, patience, kindness and smiles were much appreciated. Often today we only hear the bad things about our company or employees, so I wanted to share with you what a great job these ladies have done with my Aunt so far. It really makes this adjustment much easier for her, she was even looking forward to meeting her new caregivers this week based on the positive experience she had with Sharon and Linda. We can’t possibly say enough nice things about them and about the service and care we have received so far. Thanks for providing a much needed service with kindness and compassion.”
— Kelly O.
“Because I’m so pleased with your service, feel welcome to share my testimony about my relationship with you, with anyone you like.
I am a 49 year old single man diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. The last 15 months of chemotherapy has proved ineffective. I’m told my only option is a stem cell transplant. That requires 24/7, live-in assistance, among a multitude of other services. Choosing that option, a family member stepped in to be my caregiver, but after 30 days couldn’t handle the position emotionally. My hospital social worker gave me a number for a company to call; they use a answering service which started a “game” of phone tag.
I was desperate.
Another family member told me she had personally used a caregiver from Home Care Assistance and was pleased. She gave me your local number.
Bottom-line, your company provided me the choice of several qualified caregivers within 72 hours of my call (including a weekend); and the caregiver I selected from Home Care Assistance (Conrad) was a total blessing and I believe an answer to prayer. 'Thank you' doesn’t quite cut it, but that’s all I have…thank you very much.”
— Jeffrey J. Miller
“The time that Dana spent with Dad made the last months of his life as pleasant as possible. Dana let Dad have his self-respect while being his confidant at the same time. I absolutely could not have asked for a better caregiver for my dad than Dana. The services that you offer your clients are second to none, but the compassion that you show is truly what sets you apart from your competitors! Please give my best to Dana as she is truly an angel here on earth!”
— Jim D.
“When my father was by himself, he’d just lie in bed all day and never even eat. But with his caregiver helping him, once he’s up and had lunch, he just keeps on going the rest of the day! Having Home Care Assistance makes us feel safe, knowing he’s safe.”
— Misty Condon
“Over the last seven months, your caregiver has worked with our family, going through the ups and downs of the stresses of having an elderly family member who is no longer able to care for himself. Somehow, she has become more than a paid employee. She has become a trusted member of our father’s care-giving team by showing him compassion, friendship and a true commitment to her job, along with a willingness to learn the ins and outs of the unique boundaries involved in such an intimate relationship with a family. This petite young woman may not appear to have the fortitude to handle those situations which we most dread, but she digs deeply and finds the strength and wherewithal to manage even the most frightening of emergencies. For this, we are ever grateful,”
— Mary and Lucy P.
“We chose Home Care Assistance because their care managers are extremely personable, caring and responsive. We know we can call them for anything, 24/7. They’ve even managed emergency scheduling requests within an hour.”
— Ken B.
“Your caregiver was a fantastic care provider. He took a sincere interest in the care and well-being of my Father. He did a great job of communicating health status, providing hands-on care and making sure he received his daily exercise. The caregiver went above and beyond when he attended a difficult physician appointment where he stepped in to be a strong advocate of my Father’s needs, even when the physician incorrectly disagreed. I am personally grateful.”
— John W. Townsend, Jr.
“I am writing you to express my extreme gratitude with the services that your company has provided my mother over the past month. Without your caregivers and their thoroughness in understanding difficult situations, my mother had a very good chance of not surviving her latest release from the local hospital. It was only your caregivers’ critical observations that saved the day. Again, I am thrilled to have your company working with my mother, providing assistance with great personal support and encouragement to brighten her remaining time here.”
— Tom Fletcher
“Moving into a facility is the last thing I’d want. If I just had one or two rooms I’d feel too closed-in. I have a number of collections and I can look at them and watch our hummingbirds any time I want. I’m just so happy to be around this house.”
— Mary K.
“I was in a panic and desperate because I knew I would never find a caregiver so late on a Friday. But I found Home Care Assistance and couldn’t be happier with their service! The woman they sent to care for my mother was just wonderful and my mother said she was so glad we found someone to care for her.”
— Cheryl B.
“I would like to extend a thank you for the great services that Home Care Assistance has provided for my mom. Our caregiver, Cynthia, is wonderful and she is very compassionate and has a lot of patience with my mom. In my opinion, I would recommend Home Care Assistance to anyone that has a loved one in the home that needs care, live-in care.”
— Ruth D.
“I have been very satisfied with the care provided by the Home Care Assistance home health aides. I have had the aides living in my home for over a year to care for my Mother. The aides have done a very good job in caring for her. They are very patient and considerate. They have been very sensitive to her needs, which is important since she is unable to speak. The agency is also good about providing trained replacements when the aide needs to take time off. I have been very happy with the service and I would recommend it to anyone who needs a home health aide.”
— Carol P.
“Home Care Assistance has been exceptional in meeting needs of Diamond Geriatrics’ clients and coming through with caregivers in emergency situations which required quick follow through. Their management and staff are easily accessible. The caregivers themselves have been caring and very competent. I would without hesitation endorse Home Care Assistance.”
